ICRA RECAP | LimX Dynamics CONNECT+INNOVATORS

Event2024/5/28

From May 13 to 17, ICRA 2024 was successfully held in Yokohama, Japan.

We were excited to be part of it for the first time, and showcased LimX Dynamics’ Biped Robot P1 and Wheeled Quadruped Robot W1. It was thrilled to see our robots attracting attention from top research institutions, academic scholars, and industry innovators from around the world. The lively interactions with innovators left many memorable moments, perfectly echoing the theme of ICRA this year — — CONNECT+.

ICRA 2024 (International Conference on Robotics and Automation) is a flagship conference in the field of robotics technology organized by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). The theme of this edition was “CONNECT+”, aimed at helping attendees establish ties and potential collaborations both within and outside their fields of research.

Scholars flocked to see P1 and W1

Well known by their outstanding capability to walk in forests and evolve into biped mode, P1 and W1 drew scholars from prestigious institutions such as UCLA, The University of Texas at Austin, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Technische Universität Wien, Indian Institute of Technology, the German Aerospace Center (DRL) and more to wherever they walked by. They came to witness the exceptional motion control of P1 and W1 in person.

P1 provided new inspiration to the scholars and experts present, with its unique biped form factor, user-friendly design for algorithm development, and rigorously tested hardware. It was well perceived as the best platform for biped motion control and RL research.

Due to its stability and agility, capable of walking, rolling, climbing and standing upright, W1 not only made many academic innovators wish to own one, but also attracted industry experts eager to integrate their specialties with W1 to explore potential applications.

Special Moments of the Year at ICRA

At ICRA 2024, every attendee is an expert, and they wouldn’t let off any smart robot, creating a lot of memorable moments. When encountered P1, they formed a circle around it, kicking and pushing it to test its limit. Despite these interferences, P1 demonstrated excellent locomotion, stability, and impact resistance by making quick recovery, just like how it conquered the wild in Tanglang Mountain in March.

At the last day of the exhibition, P1 danced with a little audience, creating what might have been the most incredible and touching human-robot interaction of the year.
