Recently, Professor Abderrahmane Kheddar, a renowned scholar in robotics, visited the headquarters of LimX Dynamics. During the visit, he had a deep dive with our R&D team on humanoid robots and shared his latest research findings.

As a pioneering scholar in humanoid robots and related fields such as haptics and thought-based control using brain-machine interfaces, Professor Kheddar holds several prestigious positions: Directeur de Recherche at CNRS, the Director of the CNRS-AIST Joint Robotics Laboratory in Japan, Head of the Interactive Digital Humans team at the University of Montpellier. He is also a founding member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Chapter on Haptics, and a Full Member of the National Academy of Technology of France and a Knight of the National Order of Merits of France.

Based on his experience of humanoid application in the aircraft manufacturing at Airbus, Professor Kheddar showcased how robots can undertake repetitive tasks in harsh working environments, creating added value to the industry. He elaborated on the performance requirements for contact planning in different scenarios, the choice and application of loco-manipulation solutions, as well as shared his experience about how to address the challenges of force sensing in human-robot interaction.

After the meeting, Professor Kheddar toured LimX Dynamics’ R&D office. Humanoid Robot CL-1 was what he was most interested in to explore. For its future application, he sees immense possibilities: “CL-1 could play a significant role in manufacturing and medical care field.” He expressed his hope for future cooperation with LimX Dynamics in the field of humanoid robots. When he met Biped Robot P1, Professor Kheddar, like many others, chose to kick and push it to personally verify its exceptional RL-based motional control performance.

Looking into the future, Professor Kheddar believes that humanoid robots will be used in extensive application scenarios. He will continue his dedication to applying humanoids in real-world. He looks forward to more academic exchanges and collaborations with LimX Dynamics.
